Just thought it would be appropriate to put something online for the whole year of 2007. Basically to sum up the whole year; work, work, and a little more work. Its been a long and busy year and looks like the next will continue along the same path. Happy new year to all!

Hey all, here is one of Chelsea and my projects around the house that we are particularly proud of... As you can see we had enormous elephant ears prior to turning it into the area it is today. After two weeks of work, it was finally done. The only thing that has been added since these photos is the fountain made by Rob Gentry, which I will be posting soon.

Here's where I have been...

Hey All;

It has been quite some time since my last post here. I have been rather busy the past few months with spring semester ending and summer session beginning. Let alone the fact I am now recently married and just returned from the honeymoon. For those of you who did not know, were unable to attend, or any other bracket you could possibly fall under... I am sorry you were not there to spend time with Chelsea Rae and I at such a joyous occasion. The honeymoon was an absolute blast, a little over a week aboard a luxurious cruise ship where we did not have a care in the world. Nonetheless it is almost back to reality as work starts back on Monday. I hope all is well with everyone, feel free to chime in and say hello. Give us a call, drop us an email, or post here!

If you would like to a few of the many pictures from the wedding and honeymoon use the link on the side that says "Photo Gallery" or click here!

Online Shopping Tip - Discounts, Free Shipping, and more!

I am sure I am not alone when I say I always want to get the lowest possible price on whatever item I am trying to purchase. Here are a few tips that I use every time I purchase something online that I thought would be useful to others.

Do comparison-shopping once you find exactly what you want. Get the brand and model number of the product then enter it into Google or another search engine of choice to find out who else carries it. Use resources such as PriceWatch.com, PriceGrabber.com or Froogle.Google.com if you would rather have someone else do the comparison for you.

Once you have found the lowest priced vendor or multiple low priced vendors it is time to search for promotional codes. The easiest method would be to go to Google and type "Vendor Name promo code" or some variation of the preceding. If you seem to be striking out using this method here are some sites you can go to directly.
http://www.allonlinecoupons.com/
http://www.currentcodes.com/
http://www.abusaki.com/
http://www.ecoupons.com
There are many more sites with similar information, these are just a few.

Usually at the very least you can find a promo code for free shipping or 10-20% off, and on occasion you can find something for the exact item.

Hopefully these tips will help, if you have anything to add feel free to post a comment.

VOIP over wifi on the go

iWon News - Cell Phone Industry Steps Closer to VoIP

This is one of many seemingly natural steps towards fully integrating VOIP over wifi on cellular phones. It is only natural for technology to progress in this direction since infrastructure costs would be a great deal less, and the consumer will end up benefiting with lower cellular bills (long term). At first it will probably be offered as a "premium" service to customers simply as a method of correcting spot outages and increasing your network size for a nominal charge. Once word gets out that the companies are saving a great deal of money on infrastructure costs one of the big four will decide to begin offering for free (assuming you have a compatible device, probably will retail $300US+ at first). Once the technology has been around for a while the prices will get down to prices below what we are seeing right now for cellular service. It is only natural after all since cellular prices started through the roof and continued to decline to where they are now. Eventually it will be a flat connection fee until wireless internet becomes a government regulated service paid for through taxes then cellular will become more and more obsolete. The money will be in the sale of devices, not service. In all honesty this is going to be quite some time into the future.

Web on a hard drive, or glorified encyclopedia?

Startup called Webaroo touts 'Web on a hard drive' | NetworkWorld.com Community

A new company is boasting the web on a hard drive. They claim to be able to deliver web content like Wikipedia.org and other search utilities offline through "web packs." I am guessing the software would run an Apache-like internal server and let you browse your local computer through the web browser of your choice.

One problem I see with this idea would be the fact that marketing moguls would take advantage by "buying" higher ranking search spots, etc. Plus why bother with this feature when you can get wireless access in most places, that or if you're really in dire straights pull out the old RJ-11 cable and start dialing!

As you can see from the above, Apple will be offering users of the new Intel based macs to dual boot with OS X and Windows XP. So, yes now even you can enjoy superior hardware while mousing around on your windows machine. Native support (not have to download the boot manager seperately) is going to be added in the next OS release 10.5 code named Leopard.

There is always the option of running Virtual PC from within OS X, this allows users of any type of mac running OS X to run Windows (not limited to XP, can be 2k also).

After reading this article it looks like the South Korean's will eventually be leading the robotics industry, if not the a good portion of the tech sector as well. I find it fascinating the way the government has handled the technological revolution it has undergone in the past 10 years. If only we had some government-subsidized technology, it would be nice but I guess it would go against our capitalist culture. A trip to South Korea could be advantageous for the purchase of cellular equipment or your very own robot helper. It would be nice if companies used Orlando, Florida as their primary technological test spot, maybe next year. I would definately watch South Korea, it looks like many good things will come from them.

The above site gives an excellent tutorial for installing OS X on your current Windows machine. Note; installation of OS X will overwrite all existing data, I would advise that you use a secondary hard drive. This project is not recommended for those who who do not consider themselves "tech savvy" or if you are not comfortable with tinkering with software. Let me know if you blow up your hard drive, good luck!
